Insufferable YouTuber Says He Was 'Literally Stranded' In Slovakia

Well, folks, it seems today is a great day for middle schoolers with a little too much internet access and time on their hands– YouTuber and all-caps clickbait title enthusiast, David Dobrik, has finally returned to the United States after saying he was  “literally stranded" in Slovakia earlier this month. 

Although Dobrik moved to the United States from Slovakia when he was six years old, the star, now 25, hadn't left the country until this summer, due to the fact that he's protected under DACA – a.k.a. the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals – a program where children of undocumented immigrants can stay in the U.S. without being deported. Traveling alongside his friends and filming his new Discovery+ series, Discovering David Dorbrik, a series that will test just how many 11-year-olds have access to premium cable, it seems the star had some trouble when it came time to return to the states.

"Hi guys, sorry I haven't been too active on social media," Dobrik said in an Instagram story posted on Wednesday, per Insider. “Everyone went back home because this is taking way longer and it's a lot harder than I thought it was getting my visa and green card,” he continued, apologizing for being unable to “get any vlogs up” and liking the fiasco to a “f---ing scavenger hunt.” 

Although as far as we know, there are reports of cameras and the internet existing in the European nation, it seems as if Dobrik's social media break is a testament to his dedication to quality content – if you can't trick people into kissing their bros and none of your Slovakian friends' moms will marry you for the lolz, what's the point of even being a creator?

Considering, in part that videos like “YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT WE DID AT THE MUSEUM OF THE SLOVAK VILLAGE” and “BUYING MY MOM'S FRIEND'S COUSIN 10 POUNDS OF SOURKRAUT (FREAKOUT)” could probably only garner so much VlogSquad hype, Dobrik expressed his hopes of making his way back the good 'ol US of A. "I hope to return to the States soon, it's like I'm lost, I'm literally stranded," he said. “Wish me luck.”

And it seems the apparent luck wishes of Dobrik's roughly 18.3 million 12-year-old fans paid off – on Friday, Dobrik announced that he had managed to escape his literal entrapment from the eastern European nation.

“THEY LET ME BACK INTO AMERICA!!” the internet celebrity wrote on Instagram alongside two photos of him in front of the Washington Monument. “All I had to do was exchange 12 Teslas and Jasons first born for my green card!!” he said, referencing his buddy and former stepson, 48-year-old YouTuber Jason Nash. 

Dobrik later elaborated on his triumphant return to the states, thanking those who helped him get the hell out of Slovakia. “But all jokes aside. this is a super super big deal for me and I really appreciate everyone who helped me finally become legal,” the star wrote in an Instagram story featuring the aforementioned post. “I'll never forget this.”

So, folks, here's to David Dobrik – if you're reading this, buy me a Tesla.
